The proposed act to protect gig economy workers will be introduced in the current Dewan Rakyat session. It aims to provide a safety net, including EPF contributions, Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) coverage, and medical cost provisions. This initiative will offer better protection for Malaysia’s 1.16 million gig workers, making Malaysia one of the first countries to introduce such legislation.
