1.    O&G jobs coming in, more expected

Over the past two weeks, oil and gas companies on Bursa Malaysia have announced awards from Petronas for maintenance, construction, modification (MCM), and hook-up commissioning (HUC) services, with an estimated total value of RM8 billion to RM10 billion. The Malaysian Oil, Gas, and Energy Services Council (MOGSC) estimates the total job value at RM30 billion, benefiting various sectors, including offshore support vessels.

2.    Security, career stability in media industry should be highlighted by Malaysian Media Council – CIJ

The Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ) advocates for the Malaysian Media Council (MMC) to address issues of job security and career stability for media workers, particularly those facing layoffs due to economic challenges. CIJ's Wathshlah G. Naidu highlighted the need for a Media Solidarity Fund free from political influence. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil announced plans to table the MMC Bill in Parliament.

3.    Sabah unveils big boost for civil servants: Minimum RM3,000 special financial aid in Jan 2025, two-phase salary revision

Sabah is introducing a significant financial boost for civil servants, including a minimum RM3,000 salary and a special financial aid of RM1,000 in January 2025. The state government plans a two-phase salary revision, with the first phase set to begin in January 2025, aimed at improving the welfare of state employees and enhancing their well-being.

4.    Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia met with Jinder Kaur Sidhu, Managing Partner of the Malaysian recruitment company Language Talent Solutions, to discuss opportunities for legal employment of Uzbek citizens in Kuala Lumpur

Uzbekistan and Malaysia have agreed to strengthen cooperation in the employment sector. A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed to facilitate the recruitment of Uzbek workers to Malaysia, enhancing labour mobility between the two countries. The partnership aims to improve employment opportunities, ensure fair working conditions, and address labour shortages in Malaysia through skilled workers from Uzbekistan.
