The Intention of Women’s Voice
Women's Voice. In this space, we want to openly talk about the challenges that women face in their careers.
While there’s been some progress for women in workplaces, there are still big hurdles to overcome. In the recent article from Free Malaysia Today, they highlighted the persistent gender pay gap, with women often earning less than men for similar roles. Meanwhile, The Malaysian Reserve pointed out the lack of women in leadership positions and tech or STEM fields, even though more than half of Malaysia’s STEM graduates are women. This evidently shows the gap between education and career opportunities and the influence of gender in this matter. And then there are the everyday struggles faced by women. Facing subtle discrimination at work, dealing with microaggressions, and fighting against the odds to climb the corporate ladder.
These aren’t just women’s issues. Gender inequality affects everyone, creating a ripple effect on the economy and society at large. Only when we dive deeper into these issues, we can see the impact on society at large and not only on women.
And, NO! This isn’t just another feminist page or an attempt at feminist-washing (superficially using empowering messages about women for agenda). This space will openly talk about the less discussed issues that are real, data-backed and often overlooked.
Women’s Voice intends to have genuine conversations, with the hope that these efforts lead to meaningful change. One conversation at a time!
