Teresa Kok (PH-Seputeh) proposed setting an employer EPF contribution rate of 1.5% and a 10% rate for foreign workers, 1% lower than for Malaysians. This would mean RM20.50 from employers and RM170 from foreign workers earning RM1,700 monthly. The 2025 budget’s phased plan to mandate foreign worker EPF contributions has faced opposition, citing lack of industry consultation.
