  1. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution announced a freeze on new foreign worker quotas, aligning with Malaysia's cap of 2.5 million foreign workers, as set by the economy ministry. With 2.41 million registered workers, only 90,000 slots remain. While agriculture and plantation sectors face shortages, KDN will assess needs quarterly, with possible rehiring or utilizing unused applications for the remaining quota.

  2. Since 2011, the Returning Expert Programme (REP) has brought back over 4,000 skilled Malaysians. The REP offers incentives like tax benefits, duty waivers, and PR options for family members. Part of TalentCorp’s MyHeart platform, REP also includes MyHeart CaFe, which has facilitated 1,500 job placements since 2022, and MyHeart Innovate, which supports entrepreneurs with funding and guidance.

  3. The Court of Appeal dismissed S Gunasegaran’s appeal for RM29,000 in salary arrears and ordered Gunasegaran to pay RM5,000 in costs. The Court ruled he was not an employee but an independent contractor with FM Multi Service Sdn Bhd, citing the lack of EPF contributions. The contract’s validity was unaffected despite it being signed by a minor, Gunasegaran’s daughter.
