1. Employers must notify IRB of employee termination or death for tax clearance
Employers must notify the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) of employee terminations or deaths using Form CP22A (government) or CP22B (private sector) at least 30 days prior to termination or within 30 days of death. Employers must withhold payments to the employee for 90 days or until a tax clearance letter is issued.

2. Act 711 to be amended to strengthen whistleblower protection
The Malaysian government plans to amend the Whistleblower Protection Act 2010 (Act 711) to enhance protections and information sharing for whistleblowers. Proposed changes include aligning definitions of improper conduct, extending protections for good-faith disclosures, introducing a reward system, and providing physical protection under the Witness Protection Programme.
