1. MAB officer’s sacking for playing takraw while on extended MC upheld
The Industrial Court has upheld the dismissal of MAB Kargo officer Che Zamberi Che Ani, who was terminated for engaging in physically demanding activities, including playing sepak takraw and cutting trees with a chainsaw, while on extended medical leave following a road accident in May 2021. The court deemed his actions a serious misconduct, breaching the trust and confidence placed in him by the company.

2. Gig workers bill aims to make PERKESO contribution for gig workers compulsory, says Sim
The Human Resources Ministry plans to introduce the Gig Workers Bill, making Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) contributions mandatory for gig workers. Currently, only 26% of Malaysia's 1.16 million gig workers voluntarily contribute to the Self-Employment Social Security Scheme.
